HOCPY Ghana Produces Digital Content to Sensitize Young Females on Drug Abuse

The Hope for Children, Power for the Youth Ghana (HOCPY Ghana) has intensified its SheAgainstDrugs campaign with the production of powerful multimedia content aimed at raising awareness about drug use and abuse among young girls and women.

As part of the initiative, the HOCPY Ghana team visited Vittin Senior High School in Tamale, where they engaged students in conversations on the causes, effects, and dangers of substance abuse. The visit also served as a filming session for a series of educational videos featuring the real voices and experiences of young people.

According to the programs manager at HOCPY Ghana, madam Diana Baapeng, the videos will serve as a digital advocacy tool to educate and inspire young females to make positive life choices and to resist peer pressure and substance misuse.

“Our goal is to use relatable storytelling and digital content to reach girls where they are — on their phones, in their schools, and in their communities,” said madam Diana. “When a girl says no to drugs, she is saying yes to her future.”

The SheAgainstDrugs campaign is one of HOCPY Ghana’s flagship initiatives under its youth empowerment and health education programs. It seeks to empower young females with the knowledge, confidence, and support systems needed to live drug-free lives while inspiring peer-to-peer advocacy across schools and communities.

Through digital media, HOCPY Ghana hopes to spark dialogue and collective action to end the rising cases of drug misuse among young people, especially girls, in Northern Ghana and beyond.

“This is not just a school campaign,” the statement added. “We are taking the message to every screen, every community, and every young person who believes in a safer, stronger future for girls.”
